Enhance Images

Image Upscaler — Upscale & Sharpen

Enlarge an image while keeping it as sharp as the math allows. This tool uses high-quality Lanczos resampling — a sharper, more accurate resizing algorithm than a browser's default image scaling — followed by a real sharpening pass. To be upfront about what this is: it's high-quality resizing and sharpening, not an AI model that invents new detail. If you're looking for that kind of enhancement, expect a future update; for now, this gives the best result standard resampling can produce.

What This Tool Actually Does

Enlarging an image means creating pixels that weren't in the original — every resizing method has to estimate them somehow. This tool uses Lanczos resampling, a well-established, higher-quality method than the simple resizing built into most browsers, and follows it with a sharpening pass to counteract the softness that enlargement naturally introduces. It won't invent detail that was never captured in the original photo — that requires a different kind of model entirely — but for moderate enlargement, it produces a noticeably crisper result than a plain resize.

How Much Can You Enlarge an Image?

As a rough guide, 2× enlargement holds up well for most images. 3–4× starts to show the limits of the original resolution, especially on busy or detailed photos — you'll see softness no sharpening pass can fully fix, because that detail was never captured in the source file. Simple graphics, logos, and icons tolerate larger enlargement factors better than photographs.

Supported Formats
